Today's Trip

Is it ever going to stop snowing on this trip? :-) First few days, rain. Now, snow! What next? How about some sunshine? That will work around here.

The wind howled most of the night at Wells. I was surprised by the view when I peered out the trailer windows this morning.

Check out this view around the trailer in Wells, NV before I departed this morning. High winds and blowing snow during the night sent most of the truckers to rest stops I guess. It was a very quiet night. No Jake brakes breaking the midnight snooze.

After about an hours drive North of Wells the weather finally improved. The view was fantastic, snow covered mountains, mostly clear skies and a quick enjoyable run up US-93 with a stop at Jackpot the clean the windshield.

I have a Garmin GPS, Street Pilot model 2720.It was clever enough to route me around Twin Falls. A very good toy to own if you are seriously considering life on the road. I also use MS Streets and Trips for evening planning for the next days road trip and plug all the arrival info into the Garmin. Yes, it is possible to run Streets on a laptop but too bulky for truck use. It should work well in a Diesel Pusher with all the free space to mount a laptop.

Using the Garmin is a piece of cake to find the evenings RV stop if you have it all preloaded with information. Also the Garmin units have an excellent data base of RV Parks too but you definitely need to do the research before hand. My Garmin brought me right here to the Shady Rest but... :-)

Pulled into the Shady Rest RV Park. Well at least the name sounded nice and the folks were genuinely very friendly but Rule #2 on the back side of the check in sheet stated the following. WARNING: No illegal drugs are allowed on the property at any time...  Hmmm. On a positive note the price was almost a gift by RV Park standards but not recommended if you are traveling with the family. Enough said.

Since I am parked in a big puddle, (well I did say the price was right) I will not unhook and check out the town this evening. Will save that for Great Falls and may stay there two days.

Well what do you know? As I was uploading the first edition of this page the hail started. Certainly getting to see all sorts of weather on this trip.
